# Brighton & Hove Albion: Seagulls eye possible summer move for Reims striker Boulaye Dia

**Brighton are reportedly interested in a possible summer move for Reims striker Boulaye Dia.**

French media outlet [Le10 Sport](https://le10sport.com/football/mercato/exclu-mercato-lom-se-prepare-pour-boulaye-dia-507346) reported \[via [HITC](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2020/06/15/report-brighton-have-three-summer-targets-including-15-assist-captain-and-13m-forward/)\] that the Seagulls are admirers of the 23-year-old, who is valued in the region of €15m (£13.46m) by his current club and is also on the wish lists of Ligue 1 duo Marseille and Rennes.

Dia had a decent scoring return for Reims during the 2019/20 season, netting [eight times in 28 matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/boulaye-dia/leistungsdaten/spieler/626913) in all competitions and helping them to [fifth place in Ligue 1](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ligue-1/tabelle/wettbewerb/FR1/saison_id/2019) before it was [abandoned a few weeks ago](https://www.espn.com/soccer/paris-saint-germain/story/4090528/psg-crowned-champions-as-ligue-1-cancelled-marseille-and-rennes-in-champions-league).

The Frenchman plays primarily as a centre-forward but can also switch to the right flank on occasion (as per [TransferMarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/boulaye-dia/leistungsdaten/spieler/626913)). A match average of [1.6 shots](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/365122/Show/Boulaye-Dia) illustrates that he has a natural instinct to go for goal, while his average of [1.2 passes per game](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/365122/Show/Boulaye-Dia) shows that he can also be a creative presence on the pitch.

Of those three, the latter may be most fearful of Dia’s possible arrival at the Amex Stadium. The 20-year-old Irishman had a [memorable full debut in the Premier League](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/49861471) when he scored twice against Tottenham last October.

However, those remain his [only two goals in 17 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-connolly/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/434207/saison/2019/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/1237) in the division, while he has [lost his place in the team](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-connolly/leistungsdaten/spieler/434207) since a string of starts in the autumn. Brighton’s hopes of signing Dia could depend heavily on whether they retain their Premier League status. If they do and he is promptly brought in, then Connolly’s first team chances could be further dented.
