Brighton have entered the transfer race for highly-rated Dutch teenager Gio-Renys Felicia, who is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs.
Football Insider reported that the 16-year-old Feyenoord winger is also wanted by Newcastle and Crystal Palace, having made waves at underage level for both club and country.
Feilicia has been capped by Netherlands at under-15 level and played seven times for Feyenoord’s under-17 side this season, with one goal and two assists to his name (as per TransferMarkt).
According to Football Insider, he has a reputation for “pace and trickery” and has been tipped to become a regular for the Rotterdam club’s youth team next season.
If Brighton were to land his signature in the upcoming transfer window, he would likely have to bide his time at underage level or with a loan move elsewhere in order to gain further experience before realistically being thrown into the fray at first team level, particularly in the Premier League.
However, the prospect of the right winger teaming up with Tariq Lamptey on that flank in the future seems an exciting one. The 19-year-old former Chelsea right-back has broken into the first team in recent weeks and drawn plenty of praise for his performances, offering hope that he could become a fixture in Brighton’s starting XI over the next few years.
Even if Felicia comes to Brighton and has to bide his time before getting a first team chance, the thought of him and Lamptey on their right-hand side in future years is one that could have Seagulls fans licking their lips.
Would you be excited if Felicia signed for Brighton?
The Albion right-back has shown his flair for getting forward by completing 1.7 dribbles per game since breaking into the first team, so the combination of him with the Feyenoord prospect at the Amex Stadium could be a hugely exciting one if (and admittedly a significant if) it comes to fruition further down the line.
Brighton fans, do you think Felicia will come to the club and team up with Lamptey in the future? Comment below with your views!
