Here at the Football Transfer Tavern we love nothing more than a good rallying cry, this time courtesy of Marca and Franck Ribery.
The Bayern Munich player has come out and claimed that under Pep Guardiola the club will be stronger than ever – in fact they will be right up there with Real Madrid and of course Pep’s former club, Barcelona.
Ribery also lavished praise on his current manager noting that he was ‘very happy’ with Jupp Heynckes but expressed delight at the impending arrival of Pep and indeed the rumoured £240 million war chest as claimed by the Daily Mail. Ribery claimed to L’Equipe that “Guardiola is Guardiola. His coming here shows more than anything that Bayern is not just any club. If you can attract Guardiola, it’s because you are top class. Bayern is and will be one of the three best clubs in the world, alongside Real Madrid and Barça.”
Of course Bayern are not exactly slouches at the minute running away at the top in the Bundesliga and going strong in the Champions League after managing to throw away victory at their home final in the Champions League last season. Pep was one of the most coveted managers around and Bayern managed to win out even with all the riches that were promised in London with Roman Abramovich and Chelsea. The Spaniard will be determined to make his mark in Germany and prove that he is an excellent coach, despite the illusive cast of players he possessed at the Camp Nou.
Do you think Ribery is right? Can Bayern rule Europe under Pep? Let us know your thoughts below.
