Swansea are looking to spread their net much wider as they look to recruit Barcelona B forward Jonathan Soriano.
Brendan Rogers got Swansea promoted playing an attractive and fast-paced brand of football and recruiting a forward such a Soriano would fit into this ethos.
However he faces competition from Saint-Etienne, Roma, Cologne, Benfica and Salzburg who have all been linked with the prolific striker.
He reportedly turned down Benfica and Bolton in the summer in order to stay in Spain as he is currently contracted to Barca.
All the rumours on European websites les-transferts.com, tribalfootbal.com and sport.fr seem to put Benfica and Saint-Etienne as the front-runners to sign the 25-year-old.
Last season Soriano scored 32 goals in the Segunda Division, so with so many teams interested and the fact he’s already on the books of a feeder club for Barcelona, it would be quite a coup for the Welsh outfit to land him.
Although given that he’s 25-years-old and already had an unsuccessful spell at Espanyol in which he was released in 2009, if he was going break into the Barca first team he probably would have done so by now.
