The 19-year-old is an academy product at St. James’ Park, but having failed to make an impact on the senior first-team, spent the second half of last season out on loan at Bristol Rovers, helping them gain promotion from League Two.
Following a fresh update though, it would appear that Vincent Kompany has cooled off his pursuit…
The Latest: Burnley pull out of Anderson race?
Asked during a fan Q&A on Twitter whether Anderson is a suitable alternative to Callum O’Hare, another transfer target, Nixon suggested that Burnley have now turned their attention elsewhere. He replied:
“Yup … but think they’re working on something else …”
The Verdict: Opportunity missed
Kompany sounds like he’s busy working on trying to complete a deal for a different midfielder, but this could be a huge opportunity missed for Burnley.
Last season, Anderson made 13 goal contributions in just 20 starts for Bristol Rovers, as well as averaging 3.5 shots and 1.9 key passes per league game, via WhoScored.

Still a teenager, the Whitley Bay-born talent would have been such an exciting addition to the middle of the park and could have made a real impact on the club’s promotion push, but fans will just have to hope that whoever else is lined up will have the same ability to make a difference in the final third.
