Burnley have hired a new goalkeeping coach in German Fabian Otte, who will replace Craig Mawson, who moved to Manchester United in December.
With no football for the past three months due to the coronavirus pandemic, Sean Dyche’s Burnley side have recently been preparing to end the current season on a high, sitting 10th in the Premier League table as things stand.
Returning to action on Monday 22 June when they face Manchester City, all eyes will be on the resumption of the season to if Dyche can help push the Clarets further up the table.
Behind the scenes, Dyche is continuing to plan for next season and his latest move could prove a shrewd one after losing keeper coach Mawson to Manchester United earlier this season.
Otte, who is 29, will arrive to help the club’s young ‘keepers as they make a transition to the first team from the academy setup.
As per Lancashire Telegraph, the German has plenty of experience, having spent time in the United States before spells in his homeland and New Zealand in both playing and coaching capacities.
Burnley have an abundance of strong goalkeeping options available to them, so much so that former England international Joe Hart will leave the club this summer as his contract comes to an end.
Nick Pope, who has more Premier League clean sheets this season than any of his peers, continues to be the first choice ‘keeper at the club and he will be an excellent focal point towards whom Otte can push the Clarets’ up-and-coming goalkeeping talent.
Do you think Otte can continue the good work of Mawson at Burnley? Let us know in the comments section below…
