# Burnley: Predicted XI to face Sheffield United

**Burnley aim for their [third Premier League win in a row](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-burnley/spielplan/verein/1132) when they host Sheffield United this afternoon at Turf Moor.**

Victories over [Watford and Crystal Palace](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-burnley/spielplan/verein/1132) have left Sean Dyche’s team hanging on the coat-tails of the teams ahead of them as they push for an unlikely European spot – indeed, victory for them today would see them [leapfrog the Blades in the table](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table).

The Clarets manager has a lengthy injury list with which to contend, though. Ashley Barnes is a confimed absentee while doubts remain over Robbie Brady, Chris Wood, Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Matthew Lowton. \[via [premierinjuries.com](https://www.premierinjuries.com/injury-table.php)\]

Jack Cork is also doubtful for today’s clash after he was forced off with an ankle injury at Selhurst Park, although Dyche is hopeful of having Jay Rodriguez back after he missed last Monday’s win due to a hamstring concern, as per [Lancashire Live](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/burnley-sheffield-united-team-news-18536802).

Our predicted Burnley line-up for the visit of Sheffield United shows just one injury-enforced change from the team that [began the win at Crystal Palace](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/crystal-palace_burnley-fc/index/spielbericht/3219213):

The back-line is likely to remain unchanged, with **Nick Pope** preserving his [ever-present status](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/184/Show/England-Burnley) in goal and centre-back pairing **Ben Mee** and **James Tarkowski** [doing likewise](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/184/Show/England-Burnley). The full-back duo of **Charlie Taylor** and **Phil Bardsley** also look set to keep their places, especially with Lowton unlikely to feature.

There could be some changes in midfield for Burnley in terms of positioning and personnel. **Erik Pieters** lined up [on the right against Crystal Palace](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/crystal-palace_burnley-fc/index/spielbericht/3219213) but he could be switched to his [more familiar left flank](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/erik-pieters/leistungsdaten/spieler/43763), with [**Dwight McNeil**](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/burnley-fc-transfer-rumours/dwight-mcneil-profile/) reverting to a wide role from the [central position he adopted on Monday](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/crystal-palace_burnley-fc/index/spielbericht/3219213). If Cork doesn’t recover in time to feature today, **Josh Brownhill** could [move into the centre of midfield](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/josh-brownhill/leistungsdaten/spieler/293569) alongside **Ashley Westwood**.

**Matej Vydra** looks virtually certain to start in attack given the Clarets’ injury problems in that sector, although **Rodriguez** might win his fitness race to get back into the starting line-up for today. If he doesn’t, Dyche may be left with little option but to field an extra defender in Kevin Long, who [came on as a substitute at Selhurst Park](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/crystal-palace_burnley-fc/index/spielbericht/3219213).

The Burnley team nearly picks itself these days, so limited are their options, although there is likely to be plenty of focus on whether Cork or Rodriguez are fit enough to get a start against the Blades.
