# Burnley: Scott Twine suffers injury setback

**[Burnley](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/burnley-fc-news/) manager Vincent Kompany has [confirmed](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/scott-twine-burnley-injury-list-25046488) that forward Scott Twine has suffered an injury setback.**

### The Lowdown: Twine’s injury issues

Twine, who arrived at Turf Moor in the summer from MK Dons, has only made [one](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/scott-twine/leistungsdaten/spieler/433818) appearance for the Clarets. That came in the opening weekend win over Huddersfield, with the 23-year-old missing the next [10](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/scott-twine/leistungsdaten/spieler/433818) games in all competitions.

He [returned](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/scott-twine-burnley-injury-list-25046488) to training this week with the hope of featuring in Saturday’s win over Bristol City, but as we know, he wasn’t in the squad.

### The Latest: Kompany’s comments

Speaking after the 2-1 win over the Robins, as relayed by [Lancs Live](https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/scott-twine-burnley-injury-list-25046488), Kompany admitted that Twine has suffered an “unfortunate” setback.

The manager added that he will ‘stop putting a date on’ a return for the attacking midfielder, but is hopeful it could be sooner rather than later.

### The Verdict: Not ideal

[Labelled](https://www.miltonkeynes.co.uk/sport/football/mk-dons/manning-heaps-praise-on-twine-after-scoring-first-hat-trick-3400588) a “terrific character” by his former MK Dons boss Liam Manning, Twine was one of [five](https://www.flashscore.co.uk/match/zPmUADFe/#/match-summary) Burnley players who missed Saturday’s win through injury, so the news of a setback isn’t ideal.

The attacking midfielder enjoyed a remarkable season last year in League One, contributing to [33](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/scott-twine/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/433818) goals in [46](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/scott-twine/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/433818) games. He looks set to be an important player for Kompany, so the Burnley boss and the player himself could really do with a break when it comes to injuries.

The Clarets have been coping well without their summer signing, though, so hopefully Twine can strengthen Kompany’s attacking options even further relatively soon.
