# Callum Hudson-Odoi – Profile

**Name: Callum Hudson-Odoi**

**Club: Chelsea**

**Date of Birth: 7 November 2000**

**Position: Winger (Left/right), centre-forward**

## **Callum Hudson-Odoi – his career so far**

**Callum Hudson-Odoi** joined **Chelsea** way back in 2007 when he was just a kid, slotting into their U8 squad at first and then climbing through the ranks of their academy. It didn’t really take long for the coaching staff to realise they have a real talent on their hands, though.

By the season 2016/17, the youngster was playing for the *Blues’* U18 team, becoming a regular presence and already staking his claim at the club. And his stint at that youth level was particularly impressive.

**Hudson-Odoi** was a key part of **Chelsea’s** treble-winning success that campaign, registering 18 goals and ten assists across a total of 32 games played for the *Blues*. Even more importantly, there were some extremely important goals along the way as he managed to net in the fifth round, semi-final and final of the *FA Youth Cup*, helping his team lift the trophy.

It wouldn’t be long before he was a fully-fledged first-team player but he still featured for the U23 squad before making a big step-up at *Stamford Bridge*. He registered 23 appearances for the U23s, scoring 12 and assisting seven goals in the process as well.

In January 2018, he made his senior **Chelsea** debut coming off the bench in an *FA Cup* win over **Newcastle United**, and then he went on to make further three substitute appearances that season, including his *Premier League* bow in a home clash against **Bournemouth**.

In 2018/19, he was already a first-teamer and would start featuring quite regularly. So far, he can already boast with a total of 53 senior appearances, eight goals and ten assists since his debut a couple of years back.

But **Hudson-Odoi** doesn’t really plan on stopping here either and the future is certainly bright for the 19-year-old forward who’s bound to become a big star at *Stamford Bridge*.

## **Transfer latest**

It seems that, at the very moment, **Hudson-Odoi** is not a big target for various *transfer rumours* and *transfer news*. This may very well be because of the fact that the youngster was one of the players who have fallen sick amidst the recent outbreak so talk about a possible transfer was off the table.

And considering that he still has a viable contract until 2024, **Chelsea** shouldn’t really be too concerned about the youngster’s future. Of course, a lot can change in football and it usually does really quickly but **Frank Lampard** shouldn’t be too worried about his young talent.

In some other good [**Chelsea news**](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/chelsea-fc-news/), **Hudson-Odoi** has successfully recovered from his illness and is now already back to his old self.

And even though it’s not *transfer news* per se, the 19-year-old forward has reportedly set himself the target of making the **England** squad for the *Euros* next year.

## **Player profile**

**Hudson-Odoi** is a left-winger by trade but can also operate on the right side of the pitch with equal quality. Some of his best attributes are his pure pace, technique and the lethality he possesses one-on-one confrontations.

The 19-year-old forward seems the deadliest when he’s left isolated with the opposition’s defender as he usually has what it takes to beat his marker and then proceed to deploy a ball into the box or finish the chance himself.

But he also has that knack and the ability to position himself in the best possible areas and move across the pitch to confuse and lose the defenders in the process.

According to *Wyscout*, he averaged 8.89 dribbles per game with a 64% success rate in 2019/20, along with 2.55 shots per game as well.

And since he can boast with 4.17 crosses per game with 32.5% accuracy, it’s pretty safe to say he’s lethal both by himself and when setting his teammates up inside the box.
