Celtic: Cameron Carter-Vickers is ‘not going anywhere’

Ibrox, Glasgow, Scotland, Britain - January 2, 2023. Celtic's Cameron Carter-Vickers reacts.

Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is ‘not going anywhere’ this summer, according to pundit Frank McAvennie.

The Lowdown: CCV being monitored

The Hoops centre-back made the permanent move to the Scottish Premiership from Tottenham Hotspur back in July 2022, with his contract not set to expire until 2026.

The American international attracted interest from Newcastle United, Southampton and Fulham last summer after an impressive season on loan, but he instead decided to continue his stay at Parkhead.

Fabrizio Romano has since reported that several Premier League clubs are weighing up a move for the 25-year-old at the end of the current term.

The Latest: McAvennie’s verdict

Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie, Celtic’s former striker, insisted that Carter-Vickers won’t be thinking about an exit. He said:

“He is not going anywhere.

“I think he is enjoying himself. He has had his time down there. He will have learned so much at Celtic and I think if he goes back down he will be a better player.

“If I was a team I would want Hatate. There are some quality players in the Celtic team at the moment. It is good that the players and the manager are getting touted everywhere, it means that you are doing your job.

“That is all it does mean. Until somebody comes in with the hard cash then we will not know.“

Celtic fans, do you remember who Ange's first Hoops signing was?

The Verdict: Keep hold of him

Carter-Vickers has featured in 76 of Ange Postecoglou’s 98 games in charge, showing how much of an integral squad member he is, so the boss simply has to keep hold of him.

The 6 foot star currently averages 3.6 aerial wins and 3.2 clearances per league game, alongside recording an impressive 92% pass success rate (WhoScored).

The Southend-on-Sea-born talent is also a threat in the final third, having scored four goals and provided two assists during his time north of the border (Transfermarkt).

Carter-Vickers has been dubbed a ‘beast’ by former Spurs teammate Jan Vertonghen and he will undoubtedly continue to be a rock in the heart of the defence for many more years to come.

Will Carter-Vickers still be at Celtic next season?

Yes, 100%!
