# Celtic: Dean Jones makes Casper Tengstedt claim

**Rosenborg striker Casper Tengstedt is ‘one of the names in the frame’ for a move to [Celtic](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-news/), according to [transfer insider](https://twitter.com/DeanJonesSoccer?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor) Dean Jones.**

### The Lowdown: Tengstedt speculation

The Hoops appear to be on the hunt for a new forward after already sealing [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-fc/transfers/verein/371/plus/?saison_id=2022&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=w) January signings.

Tengstedt first emerged as a target prior to the New Year, with [reports](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-news/celtic-hoops-casper-tengstedt-transfer-talks/) suggesting that the [Premiership](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/scottish-premiership-news/) champions were planning talks with the player’s representatives. It remains to be seen whether or not those discussions have since taken place, but Jones has had his say on a potential move.

### The Latest: Jones’ comments

Talking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/88101026-celtic-3-5m-striker-in-the-frame-to-replace-giakoumakis-at-parkhead), Jones was asked if Tengstedt is a genuine option for Celtic officials. He believes that the forward is ‘one of the names in the frame’, although he added that the 22-year-old is been talked about in other countries as well.

The journalist said of the Dane’s links with the Hoops: *“I think he’s one of the names in the frame, but again, he’s someone that’s been talked about in terms of having potential in other countries too with some big clubs.*

*“So, the feeling is here that a lot is going to depend on the type of environment he sees himself fitting into for the next stage of his career. So, that might be key.”*

### The Verdict: Giakoumakis replacement?

It looks as if Giorgos Giakoumakis could leave Parkhead this month, with recent [reports](https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/spfl/scottish-premiership/giorgos-giakoumakis-celtic-transfer-exit-25923058) claiming that he may move to J-League 1 side Urawa Reds. Therefore, Tengstedt could be an ideal replacement for the Greek forward, with the 22-year-old already netting [35](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/casper-tengstedt/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/464598) senior goals.

He enjoyed a career-best campaign last year, contributing to a whopping [24](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/casper-tengstedt/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/464598) goals in just [14](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/casper-tengstedt/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/464598) Eliteserien games, so hopefully a move to Scotland can materialise in the coming days and weeks, should Giakoumakis move on from Glasgow.
