# Celtic: Adam Montgomery set to join Kilmarnock

**Celtic youngster Adam Montgomery is set to join Kilmarnock on loan in the final days of the January window, [The Scottish Sun](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/8321818/celtic-adam-montgomery-kilmarnock-loan-transfer/?utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=ScottishSunSportTwitter&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1642930840) report.**

### The Lowdown: Multiple exits on the cards?

Ange Postecoglou has already brought in [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/transfers/verein/371) players this month and it seems as if there could be a number of players heading the other way to balance the books.

Albian Ajeti, Vasilis Barkas and Boli Bolingoli are [expected](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-transfer-rumours/ajeti-barkas-bolingoli-celtic-exit-rumours/) to leave before the end of the month, whereas winger Mikey Johnston is [wanted](https://www.glasgowtimes.co.uk/sport/19869451.aberdeen-consider-move-celtic-winger-mikey-johnston/) by Aberdeen on loan.

Montgomery, labelled as [‘very talented’](https://www.67hailhail.com/news/adam-montgomery-hailed-by-ange-postecoglou-after-big-celtic-assist-yesterday/) by Postecoglou, has made [18](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-montgomery/leistungsdaten/spieler/757272) appearances this season in multiple positions but could now head for the Scottish Championship with Killie.

### The Latest: Kilmarnock poised to win race

[The Scottish Sun](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/8321818/celtic-adam-montgomery-kilmarnock-loan-transfer/?utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=ScottishSunSportTwitter&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1642930840) shared a story on Sunday morning regarding Montgomery.

They suggested that the 19-year-old is being chased by a number of clubs but it is Kilmarnock who look set to win the race for Montgomery’s services until the end of the season.

### The Verdict: New left-back required?

With Montgomery set to depart temporarily and Bolingoli possibly [permanently](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-transfer-rumours/ajeti-barkas-bolingoli-celtic-exit-rumours/), that will leave Postecoglou with Greg Taylor as the only senior left-back option.

Therefore, perhaps the Hoops could benefit from bringing in a new left-back to rival Taylor for the foreseeable future, with Montgomery then looking to break in over the next few years.

The likes of [Josh Doig](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-transfer-rumours/celtic-josh-doig-links-resurface/) and [Callum Styles](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-news/celtic-hoops-keen-on-callum-styles/) have been linked recently, so should Montgomery and Bolingoli leave, they could well be the names to watch for Hoops fans this week.
