# Celtic: Bhoys taking keen interest in Nathanael Mbuku

**Celtic are interested in bringing Stade Reims winger Nathanael Mbuku to Parkhead, according to reports.**

### Mbuku to Celtic?

The 18-year-old is a [versatile](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathanael-mbuku/profil/spieler/557614) midfielder that can play on either side in wide areas and in the number 10 role if needed but typically prefers playing on the left.

[Foot Mercato](https://www.footmercato.net/a1077343279937688933-lille-parme-et-le-celtic-visent-nathanael-mbuku) revealed that Neil Lennon’s side, along with Parma, are the front runners to capture the young frontman, with a price tag of €8m (£7.2m) believed to be on his head.

Described as a “champagne footballer” and “wonderkid” by [Goal](https://www.goal.com/en/news/nathanael-mbuku-france-wonderkid-champagne-football-reims/zl7kra3sit6c1k3bq3spl1ujj) journalist Tom Binet, Mbuku impressed for France at the U17 World Cup in 2019, picking up the [Silver Boot](https://twitter.com/ZachLowy/status/1315111453402320901) award during the tournament and has since been rewarded with first-team football in Ligue 1.

Mbuku has [scored once from 13 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathanael-mbuku/leistungsdaten/spieler/557614) this season for Les Rouges et Blancs and has also gone on to score twice for the French U18 side ([TransferMarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nathanael-mbuku/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/557614)).

### Transfer Tavern Verdict

The youngster shows a lot of promise – no wonder why Celtic are showing plenty of interest after what the likes of [Moussa Dembele](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/moussa-dembele/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/229004) and [Odsonne Edouard](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/344152) have done for the club.

If he makes the move to Glasgow, he could take a similar path that French strikers before him at Parkhead have embarked on, albeit perhaps not as an out and out number nine.

[Mbuku idolises Ronaldo](https://www.goal.com/en/news/nathanael-mbuku-france-wonderkid-champagne-football-reims/zl7kra3sit6c1k3bq3spl1ujj), and if he possesses even a fraction of the Brazil legend’s talent then the Hoops may be tempted to firm up their interest with a bid.
