# Celtic: Brighton make £21.4m Odsonne Edouard bid

**Brighton have offered Celtic €25m for striker Odsonne Edouard, according to reporter [Rudy Galetti](https://twitter.com/RudyGaletti/status/1418500370658172929).**

### The Lowdown: Edouard’s Celtic stance

The 23-year-old has less than 12 months left on his [Hoops contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/profil/spieler/344152) and nearly joined Leicester City earlier this summer.

The Foxes [decided](https://www.givemesport.com/1725151-exclusive-odsonne-edouard-still-working-on-celtic-exit-after-leicester-transfer-snub) to sign Patson Daka instead, however, Edouard is still [keen](https://www.givemesport.com/1725151-exclusive-odsonne-edouard-still-working-on-celtic-exit-after-leicester-transfer-snub) to seal a Parkhead exit during the current window.

He featured in Ange Postecoglou’s first competitive game in charge of Celtic on Tuesday but was replaced after [78](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-fc_fc-midtjylland/index/spielbericht/3584558) minutes for Albian Ajeti.

### The Latest: Brighton’s offer

According to [Galetti](https://twitter.com/RudyGaletti/status/1418500370658172929), Graham Potter’s side are leading the way in the race to sign Edouard.

A bid of €25m (£21.4m) has been tabled and could be enough to close the deal, describing it as an ‘evolving situation’.

### The Verdict: Time to sell…

If Brighton’s £21.4m bid is accurate, then Celtic need to cash in. Edouard’s [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/marktwertverlauf/spieler/344152) valuation stands at £15.3m – the highest it has been in his career, so the Hoops would be receiving £6m more than that figure.

It’s also more than Celtic received for Moussa Dembele, with the Hoops parting ways when Lyon paid [£19.8m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/rekordabgaenge/verein/371) for the forward back in 2018.

Of course, there’s the [50%](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/odsonne-edouard-celtic-transfer-sell-24151054) sell-on clause on any profit owed to Paris Saint-Germain in the £9m deal which brought Edouard to Glasgow, but Celtic would still be left with £15.2m – a respectable fee when you take into consideration the overall situation.
