**Celtic have announced a new contract for goalkeeper Scott Bain as he put pen to paper on a four-year contract, with the news announced on the club’s official Twitter feed.**

Bain was a regular presence in the Celtic side until he picked up a [hand injury in August](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4608835/celtic-scott-bain-neil-lennon-injury/) which ruled him our for two months and led to Neil Lennon securing the signing of [Fraser Forster from Southampton on a season-long loan](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49433217).

Forster has been in fine form for Celtic and a [spectacular injury time save against Lazio](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4876640/celtic-fraser-forster-barcelona-lazio-europa-league/) helped the Hoops to a 2-1 victory.

Bain now has a fight on his hands if he is to reclaim his starting place between the sticks given Forster’s form and experience, but a new four-year deal goes a long way in a manager showing his faith in the player.

These Celtic fans on Twitter gave a less than enthusiastic reaction to the news about Bain’s stay being extended:

> Why? Even if we don’t keep Forster after his loan. Craig Gordon is better then bain

> Good news but not signing Forster on a permanent deal next summer would be a massive mistake.
