# Celtic: Fans critical of Olivier Ntcham after Boxing Day win at St Mirren

**Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham came in for criticism from quite a few of his team’s supporters following his performance on Boxing Day.**

The 23-year-old was [kept in a central attacking midfield role](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/olivier-ntcham/leistungsdaten/spieler/224088) for the game at St Mirren on Thursday, the [fourth time in the last five Premiership matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/olivier-ntcham/leistungsdaten/spieler/224088) in which he has played that position as [James Forrest and Ryan Christie lined up either side of him](https://www.skysports.com/football/st-mirren-vs-celtic/teams/411339).

Ntcham managed to draw a couple of saves from the home side’s goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky, who got a hand to a long-range effort from the Frenchman in the first half and pulled off another good save from the Celtic man in the 78th minute. \[[via Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/st-mirren-vs-celtic/report/411339)\]

Despite those two efforts on target, some reporters identified weak points in his performance against the Buddies. Ryan Brown of [Read Celtic](https://readceltic.com/2019/12/26/celtic-player-ratings-st-mirren-a-3/) stated that “occasionally his passing didn’t come off” while John Reid of [67hailhail.com](https://www.67hailhail.com/match/celtic-player-ratings-vs-st-mirren-away/) felt that the midfielder “started slowly” before getting into his stride.

These Celtic fans on Twitter were rather unconvinced by Ntcham’s display against St Mirren, with some calling for a midfield reshuffle for the visit of Rangers on Sunday:

> Christie on the wings wasted. Ntcham a passenger by and large man, Lovely football player but how often do we see it?

> Ntcham slows the pace down at every attack he’s involved in! Johnston to start on Sunday with Christie moved back into his proper position please Lenny

> Announce everyone in their best positions and relegate Ntcham to the fancy flick fives team.
