# Celtic: Fans delighted with news of likely signing of Fraser Forster

**Fraser Forster looks set to return to Celtic as the goalkeeper is undergoing a medical at the club today ahead of a proposed transfer.**

[The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/9770004/southampton-celtic-fraser-forster/) reported that a deal has been agreed with Southampton to bring the 31-year-old back to Celtic five years after he left the club and he will have a medical today, with the news being relayed by [@CelticBible](https://twitter.com/CelticBible) on Twitter.

Forster initially [joined Celtic on loan from Newcastle](https://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/celtic/8935182.stm) in 2010 before [the move became permanent two years later](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2166757/Fraser-Forster-signs-Celtic.html?ito=feeds-newsxml).

He won [three Premiership titles and two Scottish Cups](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fraser-forster/erfolge/spieler/52570) with the club before moving to Southampton in August 2014 in a deal worth £10m, according to [BBC](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28715811).

He has played [125 times for the Saints](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fraser-forster/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/52570) in five years but fell out of favour in recent times, making just [one first team appearance last season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fraser-forster/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/52570).

Assuming there are no late hitches to stop the move from being completed, it should provide a timely boost to Neil Lennon’s goalkeeping options.

Scott Bain and Craig Gordon are the [only two ‘keepers in Celtic’s first team squad](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/kadernachposition/verein/371) and, as reported by [The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/9770004/southampton-celtic-fraser-forster/), the former is currently sidelined with a dislocated thumb.

These Celtic supporters took to Twitter to voice their approval for Forster’s likely return to the club:
