# Celtic: Fans give thanks to Neil Lennon as he closes on on anniversary of his appointment

**A number of Celtic fans have voiced their appreciation for the job done by Neil Lennon at the club as the one-year anniversary of his return to the Parkhead dugout draws near.**

Celtic Nation on Twitter ([@CelticNation67](https://twitter.com/CelticNation67/status/1227769867882856448)) posted a video of the 48-year-old arriving at the Hoops’ home ground on February 26th last year, when he was appointed the club’s manager for a second time following the abrupt departure of Brendan Rodgers to take the Leicester job (as per [BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/47371095)), having [initially been given the role to the end of the season](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/47371095) before his [permanent appointment last May](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48472791).

Lennon went on to win the [Premiership and Scottish Cup](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/neil-lennon/erfolge/trainer/6266) last season to complete a [third successive domestic treble](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2019/05/26/celtics-treble-treble-success-opens-comparisons-debate/) for Celtic and he is on course to repeat the feat again this year, with the [Betfred Cup already secured](https://www.skysports.com/football/rangers-vs-celtic/421184), their [Scottish Cup campaign still on track](https://www.skysports.com/football/clyde-vs-celtic/423153) and a [10-point lead in the league](https://spfl.co.uk/league/premiership/table). He also guided the Hoops into the last 32 of the Europa League as [group winners](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/50489724), masterminding the club’s [first competitive win in Italy](https://www.skysports.com/football/lazio-vs-celtic/420524) when they beat Lazio in Rome.

[Some Celtic fans weren’t best pleased](https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/celtic/thanks-for-ruining-my-birthday-celtic-fans-react-to-neil-lennon-appointment-as-manager-1-4939044) when Lennon got the job full-time but, nearly a year after he stepped into the void left by Rodgers, these Hoops fans on Twitter have lauded his impact, with one saying that he “stood up when others faltered”:

> Neil Frances Lennon 🍀🍀🍀 Stood up when others faltered 🙌🏻

> I won’t lie; I was hoping for a bigger name when he took the reigns back last year, but I couldn’t be happier that I’ve been proved wrong. And then some.
