# Celtic: Fans have their say on Odsonne Edouard and Alfredo Morelos comparison

**Former St Johnstone defender Joe Shaughnessy was asked by the [Daily Record & Sunday Mail](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/alfredo-morelos-odsonne-edouard-rangers-19786678) for his say on Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard and Glasgow counterpart Alfredo Morelos.**

When asked which of the two forwards he would rather go up against, the 27-year-old said that he would be more fearful of lining up against Morelos \[[via Daily Record & Sunday Mail](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/alfredo-morelos-odsonne-edouard-rangers-19786678)\], with a link to the piece published on the [@SundayMailSport](https://twitter.com/SundayMailSport/status/1170569955970080768) Twitter account.

Shaughnessy told the [Daily Record & Sunday Mail](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/alfredo-morelos-odsonne-edouard-rangers-19786678) that he would “[probably rather play against Edouard](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/alfredo-morelos-odsonne-edouard-rangers-19786678)” and, having faced both players last season, he said: “[I feared Morelos more](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/alfredo-morelos-odsonne-edouard-rangers-19786678)“.

Both strikers were prolific in the 2018/19 Scottish Premiership, with [Edouard scoring 22 goals for Celtic](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/344152) in that campaign and [Morelos netting 17 for his side](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alfredo-morelos/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/338962).

However, the Celtic man has a far superior record in Glasgow derbies – he has [netted five times in as many appearances against his club’s fierce rivals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/bilanz/spieler/344152), including [one in last week’s 2-0 win at Ibrox](https://www.skysports.com/football/rangers-vs-celtic/411242), whereas Morelos has [never scored against Celtic in seven derbies](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/alfredo-morelos/bilanz/spieler/338962).

These Celtic fans on Twitter feel that there is only one winner when the two strikers are compared:

> Edouard batters them time and time again. Morelos more red cards against Celtic than goals. Left out last week because he can't be trusted.
>
> Edouard is younger, faster, a better finisher, has better movement and is just in general a far superior footballer in every department.
