As reported by the [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/nir-bitton-gives-celtic-deal-21067043), the 28-year-old Israel international is keen on staying in Glasgow but, with his current deal [set to expire at the end of the season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nir-bitton/profil/spieler/129788), he conceded that his future at the club is out of his hands, saying: “It’s something you need to ask Peter Lawwell instead of me.”

He also expressed his affection for Celtic and Glasgow by saying: “I love this club and I want to stay. I am settled here, my kids live here, so we will see” ([via Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/nir-bitton-gives-celtic-deal-21067043)), with those quotes shared by [@CelticSoccrShow](https://twitter.com/CelticSoccrShow/status/1204741966359085061) on Twitter.

Bitton has been with the Hoops [since 2013](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nir-bitton/transfers/spieler/129788) and racked up [200 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nir-bitton/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/129788/verein/371) following Sunday’s Betfred Cup final win over Rangers.

A [midfielder for most of his career](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nir-bitton/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/129788/verein/371), he has shown his versatility this season by [often playing at centre-back](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nir-bitton/leistungsdaten/spieler/129788), although he has only [started five Premiership games so far in 2019/20](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nir-bitton/leistungsdaten/spieler/129788).

However, he came into the season recovering from a knee injury which ruled him out of action for almost a whole year, as per [The Scottish Sun](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4361317/nir-bitton-injury-ended-celtic-career/).

These Celtic fans on Twitter were appreciative of Bitton’s comments and his contribution to the club and have called for him to be given a new deal at Parkhead:
