# Celtic: Fans laud in-form Leigh Griffiths after comments on Hoops’ start to 2020

**Many Celtic fans have showered praise on striker Leigh Griffiths after comments he made in an interview for the club’s official website [celticfc.net](https://www.celticfc.net/news/17598) that was subsequently shared on Twitter ([@CelticFC](https://twitter.com/CelticFC/status/1231963524034809858)).**

The 29-year-old said that he is “happy to contribute in any way I can” and also lauded the “never-say-die attitude” in Neil Lennon’s team, with the Hoops [winning every Premiership match they have played so far in 2020](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/spielplan/verein/371/saison_id/2019) and [coming from behind against Kilmarnock](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3201777) on Sunday to keep that run going. Griffiths [netted Celtic’s third goal](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3201777) in that match to round off a 3-1 win and that continued his fine start to the year, with five goals to his name since the winter break, having only scored three for the season going into January and gone five months without netting (as per [TransferMarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leigh-griffiths/leistungsdaten/spieler/45611)).

He has benefitted from [Lennon’s change to two strikers](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/spielplandatum/verein/371) by [starting in every league game since the mid-season break](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leigh-griffiths/leistungsdaten/spieler/45611) and has shaken off criticism from pundits such as [Charlie Nicholas](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/charlie-nicholas-slaughters-celtics-leigh-21323995) and [Kris Boyd](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/5200516/celtic-news-leigh-griffiths-kris-boyd-2/) over his apparently provocative goal celebrations in a couple of matches last month. These Celtic fans on Twitter spoke highly of the ‘outstanding’ Griffiths, who this time last year was taking time out of football to [battle depression](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/49072583):

> The respect I have for this guy is massive. To come through what he has and to get back to the point that he is almost unstoppable is a measure of the strength of the man. His determination through it al and what has clearly been alot of hard work should be widely applauded.
