# Celtic: Fans left shocked over foul on Jeremie Frimpong in win at Kilmarnock

**Many Celtic fans were left shocked and appalled by a “[shocking](https://twitter.com/MclarenBarrie/status/1220099004698112000)” incident which ended Jeremie Frimpong’s involvement on Wednesday night, with one supporter claiming to be “[in tears](https://twitter.com/Smid44/status/1220097697652396036)” over what happened.**

The 19-year-old defender was the victim of what [The Scottish Sun](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/5200449/kilmarnock-1-celtic-3-edouard-griffiths-jullien/)‘s Kenny MacDonald called “a crunching challenge” from Kilmarnock’s Alan Power, one which resulted in the Celtic youngster [leaving the pitch on a stretcher](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/5200449/kilmarnock-1-celtic-3-edouard-griffiths-jullien/) in the closing minutes of his team’s 3-1 win at Rugby Park.

Despite the tackle ending Frimpong’s night and being largely responsible for [six minutes of stoppage time](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/5200449/kilmarnock-1-celtic-3-edouard-griffiths-jullien/) at the end of the second half, Power was [not even shown a yellow card](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3201742) by referee Don Robertson. Thankfully from a Hoops perspective, manager Neil Lennon told [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11787/11915351/celtic-hopeful-over-jeremie-frimpong-after-injury-at-kilmarnock) afterwards that the right-back could return for the weekend’s clash against Ross County, having merely suffered “a bit of bruising” rather than a serious knee injury.

While the update on Frimpong seems encouraging, these Celtic fans on Twitter were shocked and angry immediately after the challenge from Power:

> Ridiculous tackle from Power again, but what we’ve come to expect from him. Hardly surprising when the refs don’t even book him for what looks like a really bad tackle. Yes, he may have got the ball but he went right through the player as well. Shocking!
