# Celtic: Fans plead for Victor Wanyama to return to the club

**Former Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama could make a return to the club today, with reports that the Scottish champions are interested in signing him.**

The [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7415363/Tottenham-midfielder-Victor-Wanyama-facing-anxious-wait-amid-doubts-13m-Club-Brugge.html) reported that the Hoops are considering an initial season-long loan move for the Tottenham midfielder and are hoping to conclude a deal for him before the transfer window closes today.

Ricky Sacks, [creator and host of the Last Word on Spurs podcast](https://twitter.com/RickSpur), tweeted about Celtic’s interest in Wanyama via his channel [@RickSpur](https://twitter.com/RickSpur/status/1168257276513280002).

The [Kenya international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/victor-wanyama/profil/spieler/77760) came to Celtic in 2011 for just £900,000, as reported by [Scotzine](https://www.scotzine.com/2011/07/victor-wanyama-wins-work-permit-appeal-to-sign-for-celtic/), and went on to make [91 appearances for the club in two seasons, scoring 13 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/victor-wanyama/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/77760).

One of those came in the famous 2-1 win over Barcelona in the 2012/13 Champions League, his header opening the scoring on a raucous night at Celtic Park. \[[via UEFA.com](https://www.uefa.com/news/newsid=1855396.html)\]

> What a signing that would be absolute quality player, him leaving would definitely weaken spurs squad especially if sissoko were to get injured. Can't believe a premiership club never come in for him earlier, would walk right into most teams
