As noted by [The Scottish Sun](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4836349/nick-hammond-celtic-contract-recruitment/), the 52-year-old had been working in a consultancy role involving recruitment at the club since June following the departure of predecessor Lee Congerton to team up with ex-Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers at Leicester.

Hammond takes up his new permanent role with immediate effect and will work alongside first team manager Neil Lennon regarding the recruitment of players for the club, as per [celticfc.net](https://www.celticfc.net/news/16939).

He has already had an effect at Celtic over the last few months, with the Hoops bringing in 11 players either on loan or permanently during the summer transfer window, including Christopher Jullien, Boli Bolingoli, Hatem Abd Elhamed, Fraser Forester, Mohamed Elyounoussi and Moritz Bauer. \[[via TransferMarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/transfers/verein/371)\]

In addition to those [regular first team names](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-fc/leistungsdaten/verein/371/plus/0?reldata=%262019), the club also recruited young talents such as [Luca Connell and Jonathan Afolabi](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/transfers/verein/371) with a view to fleshing out the squad and taking a long-term perspective.

These Celtic fans on Twitter welcomed the full-time appointment of Hammond:
