# Celtic: Fans praise former player Tommy Burns following tweet

**A lot of Celtic fans are discussing legend Tommy Burns after a fan pointed out on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/Celtic1967_com/status/1251752387166916608?s=20) that he made his debut on 19th April 1975.**

The club has a great history, one which is great for the fanbase to look back on, like the amazing 1967 team that won the European Cup, and the side are currently making history as they look for their ninth Scottish title in a row. With such a great past comes great players and Burns is one that will go down in folklore at the Scottish side.

The Scotsman made a total of 503 appearances, in which he scored 82 goals, per [Celtic1967.com.](https://twitter.com/Celtic1967_com/status/1251752387166916608?s=20)During this time he won the Scottish League six times, as well as the cup four times and the Scottish League Cup once.

He clearly loved the club as he also became manager for a period between 1994-1997, and during his reign he won the Scottish Cup in 1995, via[thecelticwiki](https://www.thecelticwiki.com/page/Burns%2C+Tommy).

Fans clearly loved him back, with one calling him an ‘[absolute legend](https://twitter.com/ThomasM78167646/status/1252091322372104192?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)‘.

Here is what some had to say about the former player:

> TB was my hero grew I idolised him cos I knew he was a supporter first . He got the supporters and the supporters got him. He represented us on the pitch and he was our voice in the dressing room, no one done this better than Thomas Burns. His presence is still missed today 💚🙏
