# Celtic: Fans full or praise for Martin O’Neill following club tweet

**A lot of Celtic fans were full of praise for Martin O’Neill following a post on Twitter from the club about the former manager.**

The Hoops [marked the 20-year anniversary](https://twitter.com/CelticFC/status/1267374156632424449?s=20) of the Northern Ireland native taking charge at Parkhead on 1 June 2000 and he went on to enjoy a great spell in charge of the Scottish side, including a memorable run to the [2003 UEFA Cup final](https://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/europe/3043029.stm).

O’Neill goes down in history as [one of the best managers at the club](https://www.thecelticwiki.com/page/O%27Neill%2C+Martin) and his statistics prove this. He has the highest win percentage of any manager in the club’s history with 75%, via [fitbastats](https://www.fitbastats.com/celtic/manager_records.php), as he managed to win 213 games out of his 282 in charge. This is a great record in any division and it helped him to win three league titles and four domestic cups whilst he was at the club, per [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/martin-oneill/erfolge/trainer/176).

One fan called him a ‘legend’ and these statistics along with the fact that he became Celtic’s second treble-winning manager highlight why many fans are full of praise for the Irishman.

Here is what these Hoops supporters said following the tweet:
