# Celtic: Fans rave about Mohamed Elyounoussi after he returned to action in cup win at Clyde

**Plenty of Celtic fans took to Twitter to hail the performance of winger Mohamed Elyounoussi on Sunday as he made his return to action following a lengthy absence.**

The Norwegian made his [first appearance for the Hoops in two months](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-elyounoussi/leistungsdaten/spieler/186644) as he was [included in the starting XI](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7983955/Clyde-0-3-Celtic-Neil-Lennons-ease-Scottish-Cup-quarter-finals-victory.html) for the Scottish Cup win over Clyde, having [played just once since mid-November](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-elyounoussi/leistungsdaten/spieler/186644) as a consequence of a [foot injury he picked up on international duty](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/mohamed-elyounoussi-injury-blow-celtic-20887422) that month.

The 25-year-old, who [came to Parkhead on loan from Southampton](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49531965) last August, had made a flying start to his Celtic career, [scoring seven goals and providing six assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mohamed-elyounoussi/leistungsdaten/spieler/186644) prior to his injury. He wasn’t able to add to that tally at Broadwood, his early effort from a Moritz Bauer cross being clutched by Clyde goalkeeper David Mitchell (as per [Daily Mail)](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7983955/Clyde-0-3-Celtic-Neil-Lennons-ease-Scottish-Cup-quarter-finals-victory.html).

However, Elyounoussi’s overall performance on his return to action drew praise from several reporters. David Walton of [67hailhail.com](https://www.67hailhail.com/match/player-ratings-clyde-0-3-celtic/) noted how he “drifted beyond Clyde defenders with ease at times” and said that he “looked sharp”, while [Read Celtic](https://readceltic.com/2020/02/10/four-findings-clyde-0-3-celtic/)‘s Nathan Dunn felt that he looked “very slick on the left flank”.

These Hoops fans on Twitter were also impressed by the Norwegian winger as he returned from his injury layoff, with one supporter lauding him as a “[game changer](https://twitter.com/LewisLaird01/status/1226572931817451522?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1226572931817451522&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.footballtransfertavern.com%2Fwp-admin%2Fpost.php%3Fpost%3D278628%26action%3Dedit)“:

> Could be a slow-burner. Elyounoussi is pure class – brings confidence to the team – he must always play when fit.
