# Celtic: Fans react to image of Paul Hartley

**A number of Celtic fans have been sharing their views on former player, Paul Hartley, after an image of him was shared on Twitter.**

[St. Anthony](https://twitter.com/Stephen4_2/status/1246725257215557633) posted the photo on the social media platform and stated that he felt the midfielder was utilised wrongly by Gordon Strachan and that the Hoops never got to see the best out of him during his time at the club.

According to Celtic database, [The Celtic Wiki,](https://www.thecelticwiki.com/page/Hartley%2C+Paul) Hartley only stayed at Parkhead for a little over two years before his contract expired and subsequently joined Bristol City on a free transfer.

However, during his time in Glasgow, the former midfielder managed to make a respectable 86 appearances for the Bhoys, in which he managed to bag himself just four goals ([The Celtic Wiki](https://www.thecelticwiki.com/page/Hartley%2C+Paul)).

Therefore, perhaps, St. Anthony has a point about not seeing the best from the middleman, although some of the club’s faithful would appear to respectfully disagree.

Many suggested that he helped the Hoops to win the league when partnered with Barry Robson in the middle whilst another had felt he was their best player against Barcelona when in Champions League action.

Here are what just a few of them had to say…

> Got to disagree there mate. It was a master stroke playing Hartley in that position imo. Him along with Robson dragged us to that title

> Strachan playing Hartley in the holding midfield role for the last half dozen games of 2008, alongside Robson (at the expense of Brown), won us the league that season.

> Brown got a 4 match suspension, sent off v Motherwell at Celtic Pk,hard to believe it now but his sending off played a crucial part in us winning that league,he was like a headless chicken back then, Robson n Hartley were more composed n did the business when counted 👍🏻🍀

> Agreed. Him and Robson were pivotal to wgs 3IAR. Broony was still finding his feet.

> Was our best player against Barcelona in the KO stage of CL. We contained them until he got subbed. Great player for us.
