# Celtic: Fans react to Odsonne Edouard birthday post by calling for a new contract

**A number of Celtic fans have called on the club to offer a new contract to striker Odsonne Edouard, who celebrated his 22nd birthday on Thursday, as noted by the Hoops’ official Twitter channel [@CelticFC](https://twitter.com/CelticFC/status/1217737215620632582).**

The Frenchman has struck [16 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/leistungsdaten/spieler/344152) in all competitions this season, putting him [one behind Ryan Christie](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/leistungsdaten/verein/371) in Celtic’s scoring ranks, and he has scored [49 times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/344152) for the club in [112 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/344152) since he [first came to Parkhead in 2017](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/transfers/spieler/344152).

Although Edouard has another [two years](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/profil/spieler/344152) to run on his contract with the Hoops, that hasn’t deterred some clubs from showing an interest in him. [English Premier League high-fliers](https://www.premierleague.com/tables?co=1&se=210&ha=-1) Leicester have considered tabling a £30m bid for him (as per [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/celtic-striker-odsonne-edouard-30m-21232799)), with [Champions League last 16 participants](https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/newsid=2635739.html?iv=true) Napoli also having contemplated an offer for the same amount last year (as per [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7470927/Serie-giants-Napoli-plotting-30m-bid-Celtics-Odsonne-Edouard.html)). Crystal Palace have also been targeting the 22-year-old, according to [The Scottish Sun](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/4962460/celtic-odsonne-edouard-crystal-palace-transfer-rangers-morelos/).

Earlier this week, former Scotland striker Kris Boyd told [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/11907629/celtic-rangers-need-to-keep-strikers) \[[via Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/kris-boyd-makes-odsonne-edouard-21270384)\] that he feels the French forward could “go right to the top” with his next move, adding that “if someone offers big money, he ain’t going to want to stay around forever”.
