# Celtic: Fans react to Player of the Month award for Odsonne Edouard

**Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard was named as Scottish Premiership Player of the Month for August, as confirmed by [SPFL.co.uk](https://spfl.co.uk/news/edouard-named-player-of-the-month-46093).**

The Hoops proudly noted that recognition for the 21-year-old by posting the news on their official Twitter channel [@CelticFC](https://twitter.com/CelticFC/status/1173930514182475777).

> [@Oedouard22](https://twitter.com/Oedouard22?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) has been named the [@Ladbrokes](https://twitter.com/Ladbrokes?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw) Premiership Player of the Month for August.

> Congratulations and well-deserved, French Eddy!

Edouard has scored six goals for Celtic so far this season, three of which came in the Premiership, with two of those scored in August. \[[via TransferMarkt.co.uk](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/leistungsdaten/spieler/344152)\]

Having not played in the 2-1 win over Hearts, he scored in both of his league appearances last month, with one goal each in emphatic wins over St. Johnstone and Motherwell, in addition to one in the Old Firm on September 1st. \[[via TransferMarkt.co.uk](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/leistungsdaten/spieler/344152)\]

Despite his impressive goals record, he is still just the Hoops’ third highest scorer so far this term, with James Forrest on seven goals and Ryan Christie on eight. \[[via TransferMarkt.co.uk](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/leistungsdaten/verein/371)\]

Edouard’s Premiership tally of three is one behind leading scorers Christie and Liam Donnelly, with Rangers duo Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe among eight players tied on three goals each. \[[via TransferMarkt.co.uk](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/scottish-premiership/torschuetzenliste/wettbewerb/SC1/saison_id/2019)\]

These Celtic fans on Twitter reacted humorously to the 21-year-old’s individual award for his August performances:

> Surely some mistake, I mean it must be Morelos ye know cause he’s scored more goals against the likes of St Joseph’s

> But, but, but, look at the stats, what the stats don't tell you is that he scores at all levels and scores in the important games not just the wee teams,
