# Celtic: Fans react to ‘then v now’ tweet about Odsonne Edouard

**Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard continued his excellent start to life with the France under-21s with another two goals in last night’s win over Czech Republic.**

As reported by the [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/odsonne-edouard-scores-france-again-19916056), the 21-year-old has now scored four goals in his first two games for the French under-21 side, following the double he notched on his debut against Albania a few days ago.

Following Edouard’s international exploits, Celtic fan [@\_AndrewAngus](https://twitter.com/_AndrewAngus/status/1171169118818635783) on Twitter highlighted a retrospective tweet about the player from September 2018 and compared it to one posted last night.

Almost exactly one year ago, Twitter user [@AgentScotland](https://twitter.com/AgentScotland) tweeted that the Hoops forward was “a million miles away from being a 20 goals a season \[sic\] striker” – the tweet has [since been deleted](https://twitter.com/Chr1sMcLaughlin/status/1040722120190423040) – before last night saying that Edouard could [become the first £30m export from Scottish football](https://twitter.com/AgentScotland/status/1171162122908315650).

After scoring 11 goals in 29 games in his first season at Celtic in 2017/18 [on loan](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41106133), the France under-21 striker hit 22 goals in 52 appearances last term upon [signing permanently for £9m](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44482698) and already has six goals in 11 games for the club so far this season. \[[via TransferMarkt.co.uk](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/344152)\]

These Celtic fans on Twitter acknowledged the development of Edouard from when he first came to the club to now:

> Tbf, a LOT of work has clearly gone into making Eddie a footballer rather than a kid whos good at football. In his first season he had a lot of flaws that have been worked out of him. His movement was terrible when he first came, look at him now.

> In fairness to him, Edouard is night & day from then to now. He was always decent & showing he had ability, but not often enough. His work rate has improved greatly and he’s reaping the rewards now with his consistency. Hence the international call-up’s.

> He’s an absolute player and we should enjoy him while we can he WILL be the first £30m player to leave Scotland
