# Celtic: Fans react with frustration to updates on transfer targets

**With just six days remaining in the Scottish Premiership transfer window, Celtic manager Neil Lennon is still hoping to reinforce his left-back options, as reported by the [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/transfer-news-live-rangers-celtic-19011588).**

According to the [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/transfer-news-live-rangers-celtic-19011588), a move for Kilmarnock’s Greg Taylor looks unlikely given their £3m asking price, so Celtic could turn their attention to Rosenborg’s Birger Meling. Those updates were relayed by [@CelticBible](https://twitter.com/CelticBible/status/1166245528088264705) on Twitter this morning.

Both players had been linked with possible moves to the Hoops in recent weeks. The [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/celtic-transfer-latest-birger-meling-18959974) reported last week that Celtic scouts had watched Taylor in action for his current club against Hamilton in their recent Betfred Cup clash.

As for Meling, Croatian outlet [Index.hr](https://www.index.hr/sport/clanak/rosenborg-ostaje-bez-najskupljeg-igraca-ne-zna-se-hoce-li-igrati-protiv-dinama/2108550.aspx) claimed that Celtic’s interest in the player was “[growing louder](https://www.index.hr/sport/clanak/rosenborg-ostaje-bez-najskupljeg-igraca-ne-zna-se-hoce-li-igrati-protiv-dinama/2108550.aspx)” just days after the [Evening Times](https://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/17832407.celtic-hunting-rosenborg-defender-birger-meling-replacement-kieran-tierney/) reported quotes from Norwegian TV pundit Jesper Mathisen saying that the Hoops were in the hunt for him.

Lennon has already signed one left-back this summer, [bringing in Boli Bolingoli from Rapid Vienna](https://www.celticfc.net/news/16401) at the start of July, but he is still seeking one more among the three signings he wants to make before the transfer window closes in Monday, according to the [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/transfer-news-live-rangers-celtic-19011588).

These Celtic fans were left frustrated by the updates involving Taylor and Meling:

> Last week to sign 2 folk. Wont happen.

> We'll move on to Meling, agree a deal in principle, then shift the goal posts just enough to scupper the deal

> Agree with most he isn’t worth £3m, but in today’s inflated market that’s the going rate, we expect the best money for our players when they’re moved on why shouldn’t Kilmarnock?

> We’ll end up with neither given our track record in transfer windows. Embarrassing for club this size to be caught out year in year out
