# Celtic: Fans recall Harald Brattbakk on anniversary of him joining the Hoops

**Celtic signed Norwegian striker Harald Brattbakk 22 years ago yesterday, a landmark that was noted by [@CelticLisboaa](https://twitter.com/CelticLisboaa/status/1204189303842185219) on Twitter.**

The anniversary tweet included a video clip of a rather memorable goal that he scored at the end of the 1997/98 season, his first at the club.

Brattbakk, who cost the Hoops £2.3m in December 1997 (as per [The Irish Times](https://www.irishtimes.com/sport/brattbakk-set-to-make-his-debut-for-celtic-1.137194)), scored Celtic’s second goal in a 2-0 win over St Johnstone that clinched the league title in 1998 and prevented their crosstown rivals from winning 10 titles in a row (as per [The Scottish Sun](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/1341628/harald-brattbakk-celtic-rosenborg-trondheim-champions-league/)).

He also scored [all four goals in a 4-0 win over Kilmarnock](https://celticfpa.co.uk/harald-brattbakk/) in the same year, although he ended up with just [12 goals in 44 league appearances](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/1341628/harald-brattbakk-celtic-rosenborg-trondheim-champions-league/) for the Hoops, with Derek McGregor writing in [The Scottish Sun](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/1341628/harald-brattbakk-celtic-rosenborg-trondheim-champions-league/) that “overall he flopped in Paradise”.

Indeed, Brattbakk came back to haunt his former club by scoring against them in a Champions League clash in 2001, as per [The Scottish Sun](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/1341628/harald-brattbakk-celtic-rosenborg-trondheim-champions-league/).

However, these Celtic fans on Twitter fondly recalled the day of his title-winning goal against St Johnstone on the 22-year anniversary of his arrival in Glasgow:

> Best atmosphere at a game ever. Very maligned player but when we needed him boom
