# Celtic: Fans remember founder Brother Walfrid on what would be his birthday

**Celtic have posted a [tweet](https://twitter.com/CelticFC/status/1262269185243185153?s=20) remembering the club’s founder Brother Walfrid, who was born on this day in 1840, and a lot of fans duly feel that their latest Premiership triumph has fallen on a very appropriate day.**

In 1887, Walfrid helped to found Celtic as a ‘means of raising funds for the poor and deprived in the east end of Glasgow in Scotland’, as per [thecelticwiki](https://www.thecelticwiki.com/page/Brother+Walfrid), sowing the seeds for decades of success in Scotland and a European Cup triumph in 1967.

Some Celtic fans made the connection between his birthday and today’s news that the club have been awarded their ninth league title in a row, as per [STV News](https://news.stv.tv/sport/celtic-champions-and-hearts-relegated-as-premiership-ends?top), with one supporter believing that the “stars are aligned”.

With football postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the SPFL have decided to end the 2019/20 Premiership season with leaders Celtic declared as champions, as per [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11781/11990125/celtic-crowned-scottish-premiership-champions-and-hearts-relegated-as-spfl-end-season).

Here is what these Hoops fans had to say about the correlation between Brother Walfrid and today’s title news:
