# Celtic: Fans unimpressed with Diego Laxalt after Old Firm derby debut

**Celtic manager Neil Lennon handed summer[loan signing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diego-laxalt/profil/spieler/230552) [Diego Laxalt](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/diego-laxalt/) his [debut](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diego-laxalt/profil/spieler/230552) today in the Old Firm derby, but it was not a day that the Uruguayan will care to remember fondly.**

The Hoops lost the game [2-0](https://www.sofascore.com/celtic-rangers/bXscX), and Laxalt picked up a lowly 6.8 rating, per [SofaScore](https://www.sofascore.com/celtic-rangers/bXscX). The Uruguayan international lost possession 26 times and made four fouls in his team’s defeat to Rangers. The defeat leaves Celtic [four points behind](https://spfl.co.uk/league/premiership/table) their table-topping rivals, albeit with a game in hand.

Although the left-back managed to complete [both](https://www.sofascore.com/celtic-rangers/bXscX) his attempted dribbles and delivered [two](https://www.sofascore.com/celtic-rangers/bXscX) accurate crosses, it wasn’t enough to prevent many Hoops fans from being unimpressed with his “awful” performance.

Hopefully the poor performance was just a blip and Celtic will be back at their best for their next fixture against Italian giants AC Milan in the Europa League on Thursday.

### Here is what Celtic fans have said following Laxalt’s performance:

> Laxalt has been very poor. Given away ridiculous amount of ball. All over shop going backwards. No better than Taylor based on today.

> Cowards\
> Laxalt is no improvement on Taylor on this performance. Duffy is no leader and this team looks done.\
> Mo – waste of space. Ntcham poor again. No pass marks for anyone so far.

> Ntcham and laxalt been poor. Shouldnt been throw in so soon after arriving for debut. Missing the running of Forrest and creativity of Christie and Edouard up top.
