# Celtic: Fans were begging for Odsonne Edouard’s to be brought on in Betfred Cup final

**Celtic manager Neil Lennon opted to start with Lewis Morgan up front in the Betfred Cup final against Rangers.**

Unfortunately for the 23-year-old, though, he was unable to provide that spark in attack and fire his team into the lead as they went into half-time with things level at 0-0.

Clearly unsatisfied with how things were going offensively, Celtic fans quickly called for the introduction of Odsonne Edouard.

Struggling with what Lennon [initially described](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50595872) as a “niggle”, Edouard was only fit enough to start from the bench — a disappointment given the threat that he brings to this Hoops side.

The 21-year-old has been in deadly form this season, scoring [10 goals](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/scottish-premiership/top-scorers) in 12 SPFL appearances. He had also scored five goals against Rangers heading into the Scottish League Cup final, according to [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/odsonne-edouard/bilanz/spieler/344152), further showing that he is the man for such occasions.

So with the game at 0-0, Celtic fans called for their French forward, who was eventually brought on just before the [hour mark](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/50634650).

> Eddy on no excuses. Christie and CalMac are anonymous. Rattling balls up to a tiny winger playing a lone striker role. Madness.
