# Celtic: Fans weren’t impressed with team selection prior to Rennes game

**Having seen his team [already clinch qualification](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/50253786) for the knockout rounds of the Europa League, Celtic manager Neil Lennon took the liberty of making [four changes to his starting line-up](https://www.skysports.com/football/celtic-vs-rennes/420540) for last night’s Group E encounter with Rennes at Parkhead.**

Lewis Morgan started up top in place of the rested Odsonne Edouard, while Olivier Ntcham came into the midfield and Moritz Bauer and Greg Taylor started in the full-back positions. \[[via Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/celtic-vs-rennes/420540)\]

The team news was confirmed by Celtic’s official Twitter account [@CelticFC](https://twitter.com/celticfc/status/1200120909908054016?s=21) with just under 90 minutes remaining to kick-off.

Morgan, who was making his [first appearance of the Europa League group stage](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lewis-morgan/leistungsdaten/spieler/311351), scored the opening goal in the Hoops’ 3-1 victory, a result which guaranteed top spot for Lennon’s team (as per [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/celtic-vs-rennes/420540)).

Bauer also had good reason to feel pleased with his contribution afterwards, sending in [four crosses](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1427244/LiveStatistics/Europe-UEFA-Europa-League-2019-2020-Celtic-Rennes) on the night, while Ntcham [provided the assist for Mikey Johnston’s goal](https://www.skysports.com/football/celtic-vs-rennes/420540) that gave Celtic a three-goal lead.

Before kick-off, though, these Hoops fans on Twitter voiced their displeasure over the manager’s team selection:

> Hahaha. Now announce the real team.

> Slightly frustrating that he’s gone with this. We’ve done excellently so far in this group and have a great chance to top it. I hope we don’t regret going with this line up. Ultimately if we had better game management and squad rotational skills, we wouldn’t have had to do this.
