# Celtic: Fresh Ciaron Brown update emerges

**[Give Me Sport](https://www.givemesport.com/1753757-transfer-exclusive-celtic-keen-on-move-for-cardiff-citys-ciaron-brown) have provided a fresh update in Celtic’s pursuit of Cardiff City’s Ciaron Brown.**

### The Lowdown: Brown links

[Football League World](https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/exclusive-cardiff-city-open-contract-talks-with-player-amid-rangers-and-celtic-transfer-interest/) claimed the Hoops were circling for Brown just last week, while Cardiff are hoping to tie him down to a new deal.

Described as [‘massive’](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/livingston-boss-david-martindale-hails-23417239) by David Martindale, Brown can play as a [centre-back, left-back or as a left-midfielder](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ciaron-brown/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/611845) and has [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ciaron-brown/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/611845) caps for Northern Ireland.

The [London-born](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ciaron-brown/profil/spieler/611845) ace also has Scottish Premiership experience during loan spells with [Livingston](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ciaron-brown/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/611845), and it seems as if the Hoops are keen to bring him back to Scotland.

### The Latest: Give Me Sport report

[Give Me Sport](https://www.givemesport.com/1753757-transfer-exclusive-celtic-keen-on-move-for-cardiff-citys-ciaron-brown) shared a story on Brown on Wednesday evening. Within their report, they claimed Celtic are firmly interested in the defender, who [scored](https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/scottish/celtic/celtic-slip-up-again-as-northern-ireland-defender-ciaron-brown-scores-for-livingston-in-scottish-premiership-draw-39993316.html) for Livingston against Neil Lennon’s side last season.

Rivals Rangers are also keeping tabs on the 23-year-old, who, at this moment in time, will be available to sign pre-contract terms with clubs outside of England in the New Year.

### The Verdict: Versatility

Brown can play in [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ciaron-brown/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/611845) separate positions, so would provide cover to a number of areas for Ange Postecoglou.

That could be key in regards to Celtic’s interest, especially with the Hoops seeing Liam Scales’ versatility as [crucial](https://theathletic.co.uk/2782217/2021/08/24/where-celtic-need-to-strengthen-to-support-the-fine-start-to-the-postecoglou-era/?article_source=search&search_query=kieran%20devlin) over a summer move.

Celtic may have to battle their fiercest rivals to Brown’s signature, though, so it’ll be interesting to see if there are any further developments prior to the winter window.
