# Celtic: Hannes Wolf loan possible

**Celtic could sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Hannes Wolf on loan, according to German outlet [Kicker](https://www.kicker.de/celtic-und-rapid-mit-interesse-an-wolf-4000000040964/transfermeldung), relayed by reporter [Sacha Pisani](https://twitter.com/sachk0/status/1478023348051320832?s=21).**

### The Lowdown: Two midfielders signed

The Hoops have already added to their midfield ranks this year with the [signings](https://www.celticfc.com/news/2021/december/31/celtic-delighted-to-welcome-three-new-signings/) of Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi.

The pair were announced on New Year’s Eve alongside forward Daizen Maeda, putting pen to paper on [four-and-a-half-year deals](https://www.celticfc.com/news/2021/december/31/celtic-delighted-to-welcome-three-new-signings/) at Parkhead.

Links to Wolf emerged at the [beginning](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/latest-news/celtic-hoops-eye-hannes-wolf/) and [end](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-news/celtic-hoops-linked-with-hannes-wolf/) of December, with [Bhoys Analytics](https://twitter.com/bhoysanalytics/status/1478327333446729728?s=21) recently stating that a move for the 22-year-old would ‘really separate’ Michael Nicholson from Peter Lawwell.

### The Latest: Loan move possible

[Pisani](https://twitter.com/sachk0/status/1478023348051320832?s=21) relayed the ‘latest’ reports from [Kicker](https://www.kicker.de/celtic-und-rapid-mit-interesse-an-wolf-4000000040964/transfermeldung) on Twitter on Monday afternoon, suggesting a loan deal is still in the works for Celtic.

“Latest report via Kicker says a loan deal is possible for Wolf as Celtic circle,” the journalist said.

Rapid Wien have also been credited with an interest in Wolf, who has made just two Bundesliga starts all season.

### The Verdict: Interesting…

Wolf, valued at £4.5m by [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hannes-wolf/profil/spieler/321070), is [primarily](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hannes-wolf/profil/spieler/321070) an attacking midfielder whereas [Hatate](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/reo-hatate/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/496656) and [Ideguchi](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/yosuke-ideguchi/profil/spieler/318219) play in deeper central positions.

David Turnbull could miss [two months](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-news/celtic-david-turnbull-out-for-two-months/) of action with a hamstring injury, so bringing Wolf in on loan with a possible option to buy, as they have done with Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers, may well be a shrewd move for the second half of the season.

Wolf has struggled in Germany this season, however, he’s proven back in his native country with [RB Salzburg](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hannes-wolf/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/321070) that he has an eye for a goal and an assist, so a loan move could be one to keep a close eye on.
