# Celtic: Hoops agree fee for Georgios Giakoumakis

**Celtic have agreed on a fee with VVV-Venlo for striker Georgios Giakoumakis, according to transfer expert [Duncan Castles](https://twitter.com/DuncanCastles/status/1428340654409715717).**

### The Lowdown: Postecoglou call

[Reports](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/georgios-giakoumakis-celtic-transfer-talks-24777756) earlier in the week from Castles linked the Hoops with a move for the [Greece international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/georgios-giakoumakis/profil/spieler/234850).

He suggested that Ange Postecoglou personally called the 26-year-old over a potential move to Parkhead and is playing a central role in the club’s attempts to sign the striker.

Giakoumakis, who is also wanted by [Werder Bremen](https://twitter.com/AnthonyRJoseph/status/1428299361113546758), was left impressed with Postecoglou’s approach and it now seems as if a transfer is one step closer.

### The Latest: Castles’ post

[Castles](https://twitter.com/DuncanCastles/status/1428340654409715717), known for his role on The Transfer Window Podcast, took to Twitter on Thursday afternoon to share an update.

He revealed that the two clubs have agreed on a fee, with Giakoumakis, described as [‘special’](https://cceit.com/absurde-giakoumakis-makes-a-lot-of-impression-this-is-not-possible-at-allA/) in the Netherlands, set to discuss personal terms with the Hoops.

### The Verdict: Edouard now on the way out?

[Reports](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9850293/Celtic-considering-former-Crystal-Palace-midfielder-James-McCarthy.html) at the beginning of the month suggested that Celtic wanted a ‘keeper, right-back, midfielder and winger before the end of the month.

They have added to two areas with Joe Hart and James McCarthy, however, with the club now moving for an out-and-out centre-forward in Giakoumakis, perhaps Odsonne Edouard will now seal a Hoops exit before the window slams shut.

He’s been [working](https://www.givemesport.com/1725151-exclusive-odsonne-edouard-still-working-on-celtic-exit-after-leicester-transfer-snub) on a move away after his transfer to Leicester City fell through, so Giakoumakis’ arrival could then give Celtic the green light to sell Edouard.
