# Celtic: Hoops allegedly reach agreement for Jota

**Celtic have reached an agreement with Benfica for the transfer of winger Filipe Jota, according to Portuguese outlet [Record](https://www.record.pt/futebol/futebol-nacional/liga-bwin/benfica/detalhe/jota-ruma-ao-celtic), cited by [HITC](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2021/08/29/celtic-transfer-news-deal-agreed-for-jota-to-arrive-on-loan/).**

### The Lowdown: Jota profiled

Jota is 22 years of age and is primarily a [left-winger](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jota/profil/spieler/329812) but can also turn out on the [right](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jota/profil/spieler/329812) when required.

A [Portugal Under-21 international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jota/profil/spieler/329812), Jota is thought to be on [£7,100-a-week](https://salarysport.com/football/la-liga/real-valladolid/) and spent last season on [loan](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jota/transfers/spieler/329812) at Spanish side Real Valladolid, making [18](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jota/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/329812) appearances.

He’s won [two](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jota/erfolge/spieler/329812) major honours with Benfica and was the top scorer at the [2018 Under-19 European Championships](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jota/erfolge/spieler/329812).

### The Latest: Agreement reached

According to [Record](https://www.record.pt/futebol/futebol-nacional/liga-bwin/benfica/detalhe/jota-ruma-ao-celtic), translated by [HITC](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2021/08/29/celtic-transfer-news-deal-agreed-for-jota-to-arrive-on-loan/), a loan agreement has been reached between Celtic and Benfica for Jota.

The report claims that there will be a clause included where the Hoops can make the move permanent during the temporary move.

### The Verdict: Ange gets what he was after

Ange Postecoglou was after a [winger](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9850293/Celtic-considering-former-Crystal-Palace-midfielder-James-McCarthy.html) at the beginning of the month, and it seems as if he’ll be getting just that in a transfer involving Jota.

Dominic McKay also appears to have worked a clever clause in where it could be made permanent, which could be a shrewd move if Jota impresses in Scotland, although a specific fee isn’t included in the recent report.

Jota could well join [Georgios Giakoumakis](https://twitter.com/YanniRamone/status/1431354513752039426) in sealing late moves to Celtic Park, with the attacker expected to undergo a medical in France on Sunday.
