# Celtic: Hoops considering Andriy Shevchenko

**Celtic are ‘considering’ hiring Andriy Shevchenko as head coach, according to European outlet [Ajansspor](https://twitter.com/ajansspor/status/1444539460171993088).**

### The Lowdown: Shevchenko links

Shevchenko left his job as Ukraine manager in the summer following the European Championship and now wants to try his hand at club level with a job in Britain. That’s according to [The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/16311817/chelsea-andriy-shevchenko-celtic-alert-move/), who claimed that Celtic have been put on alert following his wishes.

The 45-year-old played in [The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/7776833/billy-murray-piers-morgan-st-andrews-alfred-dunhill-links/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1632935620) along with Hoops chief Dermot Desmond, with the golf event getting underway on Thursday.

### The Latest: Ajansspor’s claim

[Ajansspor](https://twitter.com/ajansspor/status/1444539460171993088) posted on Twitter regarding Shevchenko on Sunday morning.

They relayed [The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/16311817/chelsea-andriy-shevchenko-celtic-alert-move/)’s claim about the Ukrainian wanting a British job if things don’t work out with incumbent Ange Postecoglou, prior to which they had said ‘Scottish team Celtic are considering hiring Andriy Shevchenko as head coach.’

### The Verdict: Hopefully not true…

Both [Shevchenko](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/andriy-shevchenko/profil/trainer/45350) and [Postecoglou](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ange-postecoglou/profil/trainer/11929) like to play a 4-3-3 system, but the Hoops need to give the latter more time during his start to life as Celtic boss.

Postecoglou has overseen plenty of change during the summer, with a number of players [arriving and departing](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/transfers/verein/371) the club. He’s also had to manage a thin squad due to a [number of injuries](https://celtsarehere.com/celtics-injury-list/) in recent weeks, so Celtic shouldn’t feel the need to be panicking just yet.

Hopefully the media have merely picked up on the coincidence of Desmond and Shevchenko playing in a golf tournament together and there is nothing serious in the rumours. That’s nothing against the Ukrainian, but rather a show of support to keep faith with the current incumbent.
