# Celtic: Hoops could be in the mix for Divock Origi

**Celtic could be in the mix to sign Liverpool forward Divock Origi on loan this summer, according to [The Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/celtic-5-box-office-strikers-24692626).**

### The Lowdown: Previous Origi links

Origi has been linked with a move to Parkhead on more than one occasion this year.

The [first](https://www.anfieldcentral.co.uk/posts/exclusive-liverpool-ready-to-offer-origi-3m-for-20-goal-french-forward/) came back in March where he was tipped to move to Glasgow as part of a potential swap deal involving Odsonne Edouard.

The second came just last month, with [90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/liverpool-transfer-news-watford-winger-ismaila-sarr) claiming Celtic were monitoring the Belgian forward with Liverpool ready to move the 26-year-old on.

### The Latest: Possible loan move?

[The Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/celtic-5-box-office-strikers-24692626) shared a story on Thursday morning, looking at five strikers who could complement Celtic’s transfer strategy.

One of those was Origi, with the [report](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/celtic-5-box-office-strikers-24692626) claiming that although a potential £10m transfer fee is a non-starter, the Hoops could be in the mix for a temporary deal, should the Reds make him available.

### The Verdict: A possible Edouard replacement?

With Edouard [still](https://www.givemesport.com/1725151-exclusive-odsonne-edouard-still-working-on-celtic-exit-after-leicester-transfer-snub) looking to seal a Parkhead exit this summer after his move to Leicester City [collapsed](https://foxesofleicester.com/2021/06/19/leicester-city-odsonne-edouard-collapse/), Origi could turn out to be a smart replacement.

Origi, described as [‘unreal’](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2019/10/31/caoimhn-kelleher-praises-unreal-liverpool-teammate-divock-origi/) by teammate Caoimhin Kelleher back in the 2019/20 season, has plenty of experience at the highest level.

He’s made [29](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/leistungsdaten/spieler/148368) appearances for his country and [157](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/leistungsdaten/spieler/148368) for Liverpool, scoring [62](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/leistungsdaten/spieler/148368) goals for club and country during his career.

Origi’s Anfield deal also expires [next year](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/divock-origi/profil/spieler/148368), so perhaps a loan move with an obligation to buy could be explored by the Hoops, which may make more financial sense for all parties involved.
