# Celtic: Hoops keen on Scunthorpe teenager Joey Dawson

**Celtic are reportedly keen on signing Scunthorpe teenager Joey Dawson this summer.**

That’s according to an exclusive report from [Iron Bru](https://iron-bru.co.uk/exclusive-iron-face-battle-to-keep-prolific-dawson-with-celtic-keen-on-17-year-old/), who claim that the League Two side face an uphill battle to keep the 17-year-old at Glanford Park.

Dawson, who is capable of playing as an [attacking midfielder or at centre-forward](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joey-dawson/profil/spieler/695289), has been [offered a long-term professional deal](https://iron-bru.co.uk/exclusive-iron-face-battle-to-keep-prolific-dawson-with-celtic-keen-on-17-year-old/) to stay with the Lincolnshire club, but it is believed that he will [explore his options](https://iron-bru.co.uk/exclusive-iron-face-battle-to-keep-prolific-dawson-with-celtic-keen-on-17-year-old/) at the end of the season.

He became [Scunthorpe’s youngest-ever player](https://www.scunthorpe-united.co.uk/news/2019/august/joey-dawson-becomes-youngest-iron-player/) back in 2019 at the age of 16 years and 75 days and is the [nephew of Tottenham legend Michael Dawson](https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/celtic-and-derby-county-keeping-tabs-on-exciting-efl-attacker/), who made [324](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/michael-dawson/leistungsdaten/spieler/9988) appearances for Spurs.

### Transfer Tavern take

It seems as if Celtic are really upping their game when it comes to looking at youngsters across the UK.

The Hoops have [already secured the services of Liam Shaw](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/6693271/celtic-shaw-pre-contract-sheffield-wednesday-lennon-plans/) from Sheffield Wednesday and have been credited with an interest in [Wigan’s Kyle Joseph](https://www.footballinsider247.com/celtic-in-talks-to-beat-rangers-and-tottenham-to-joseph-signing/) and [Rochdale’s Kwadwo Baah](https://www.givemesport.com/1658840-celtic-transfer-exclusive-rochdales-kwadwo-baah-a-target).

Looking at young UK based prospects is [one of two Celtic transfer strategies](https://theathletic.co.uk/2320038/2021/01/25/how-celtic-could-remodel-their-transfer-policy-post-brexit/), and with a summer rebuild likely to go ahead, it seems as if the Hoops are also looking to the long-term future with some of the players linked and not just next season.
