# Celtic: Hoops linked with Fabricio Bustos

**Celtic have been linked with a move for Club Atletico Independiente right-back Fabricio Bustos by French outlet [Homme du Match](https://www.hommedumatch.fr/articles/exclus-hdm/rc-lens-mercato-fabricio-bustos-finalement-au-celtic-plutot-quau-rcl_2572778).**

### The Lowdown: Bustos profiled

Bustos is 25 years of age and has [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabricio-bustos/profil/spieler/275381) senior caps for Argentina. He’s been with his current employers since [2016](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabricio-bustos/profil/spieler/275381), turning out [154](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabricio-bustos/leistungsdaten/spieler/275381) times.

Capable of playing as a [right-midfielder](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabricio-bustos/profil/spieler/275381), the [5 foot 4](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabricio-bustos/profil/spieler/275381) defender is on [£24,000-a-week](https://salarysport.com/football/super-liga/independiente/) in Argentina and is into the final [12 months](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fabricio-bustos/profil/spieler/275381) of his contract.

The Hoops have made [seven](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/transfers/verein/371) senior signings this summer and are after a [new right-back](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9850293/Celtic-considering-former-Crystal-Palace-midfielder-James-McCarthy.html), and it seems as if Bustos has become the latest target.

### The Latest: Celtic links

According to [Homme du Match](https://www.hommedumatch.fr/articles/exclus-hdm/rc-lens-mercato-fabricio-bustos-finalement-au-celtic-plutot-quau-rcl_2572778), Celtic have been offered the chance to sign Bustos, along with Brazilian side Santos.

French club Nice have also been linked, but it’s Celtic who are [reportedly](https://www.hommedumatch.fr/articles/exclus-hdm/rc-lens-mercato-fabricio-bustos-finalement-au-celtic-plutot-quau-rcl_2572778) in pole position to sign the South American.

Club Atletico Independiente would want to receive around €4m (£3.4m) to part ways with Bustos.

### The Verdict: Buta alternative?

Celtic have been linked with Royal Antwerp right-back Aurelio Buta in recent weeks, with [reports](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/aurelio-buta-agrees-celtic-transfer-24624866) suggesting a £3m deal was agreed at the end of July.

However, as we know, Buta is yet to be announced as a Hoops player, so Bustos could be a potential alternative target.

Bustos is a similar age as [Buta](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aurelio-buta/profil/spieler/258039) and both can play further forward, so perhaps the Argentine could be a smart alternative if Celtic are having struggles getting a deal for Buta over the line.
