# Celtic: Hoops linked with Hannes Wolf

**Celtic have been linked with a move for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Hannes Wolf, according to German tabloid Bild, relayed by [Bulinews.com](https://bulinews.com/news/11037/report-six-gladbach-players-could-follow-ginter-out-the-exit-door).**

### The Lowdown: Wolf profiled

Wolf is [primarily](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hannes-wolf/profil/spieler/321070) a left-footed attacking midfielder who can also play on either wing and has made [180](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hannes-wolf/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/321070) senior club appearances.

He joined Monchengladbach from RB Leipzig this summer following a successful loan spell in a deal worth £8.55m, taking fees to sign Wolf during his career over £20m. \[[Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hannes-wolf/transfers/spieler/321070)\]

The 22-year-old has made just [one](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/hannes-wolf/leistungsdaten/spieler/321070) appearance in Monchengladbach’s last 10 Bundesliga games, and so it seems as if a January exit is on the cards.

### The Latest: Hoops keen

[Bulinews.com](https://bulinews.com/news/11037/report-six-gladbach-players-could-follow-ginter-out-the-exit-door) relayed an update from German tabloid Bild, who claimed that Wolf could be one of a number of players to leave Monchengladbach in the New Year.

They suggest that he’s not in Adi Hutter’s plans, with Celtic, Trabzonspor and Rapid Wien all showing an interest.

### The Verdict: Needed?

The Hoops could well bolster their midfield and attacking ranks in the New Year with [three](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11787/12488152/celtic-transfer-news-daizen-maeda-reo-hatate-and-yosuke-ideguchi-targets-for-ange-postecoglou) Japanese signings, and should they arrive in Scotland, Wolf may not be needed.

Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi are Ange Postecoglou’s midfield targets, according to [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11787/12488152/celtic-transfer-news-daizen-maeda-reo-hatate-and-yosuke-ideguchi-targets-for-ange-postecoglou), while forward Daizen Maeda could also be brought in over the coming weeks.

Should those moves materialise, Postecoglou would have a plethora of midfield and attacking options, so the club could be better off looking at a new left-back to rival Greg Taylor instead of looking at Wolf, with the likes of [Callum Styles](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/17086137/celtic-lining-up-swoop-barnsley-styles/) and [Aaron Hickey](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-news/celtic-hoops-still-keen-on-aaron-hickey/) recently linked.
