# Celtic: Hoops links to Robbie Brady resurface

**Celtic have once again been linked with a move for free agent Robbie Brady, with Ange Postecoglou quizzed on the Irishman on Thursday evening, [The Scotsman](https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/celtic/ange-postecoglou-talks-possible-celtic-signings-as-he-addresses-robbie-brady-speculation-3345045) report.**

### The Lowdown: Previous Brady links

The Hoops were [linked](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/6679307/celtic-move-burnley-brady/) with a summer move for the 29-year-old back in February when Neil Lennon was still in charge at Celtic Park.

[Reports](https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/6679307/celtic-move-burnley-brady/) then suggested that Celtic actually wanted Brady in the summer of 2020 before he penned a one-year extension at Burnley.

The left midfielder’s release from Turf Moor was [confirmed](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/robbie-brady-celtic-transfer-radar-24200058) back in May, which once again led to [rumours](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/robbie-brady-celtic-transfer-radar-24200058) of a move to Glasgow.

Brady, who was once hailed by [Roy Keane](https://www.irishmirror.ie/sport/soccer/soccer-news/roy-keane-backs-robbie-brady-10593432), has scored [35](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/robbie-brady/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/128229) goals during his professional career and is still [without a club](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/robbie-brady/profil/spieler/128229).

### The Latest: Postecoglou quizzed

Postecoglou spoke to the media following Celtic’s [3-0](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58138071) win over Jablonec on Thursday evening and was asked about transfers.

The Hoops boss was asked specifically about Brady, reported by [The Scotsman](https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/celtic/ange-postecoglou-talks-possible-celtic-signings-as-he-addresses-robbie-brady-speculation-3345045), to which he said:

> “I haven’t talked specifically about him. Nothing’s really happened yet where I can say that someone has signed for me.”

### The Verdict: Sign?

Celtic have already brought one experienced free agent to the club in [James McCarthy](https://www.celticfc.com/news/2021/august/Double-signing-delight-as-Joe-Hart-and-James-McCarthy-join-Celtic/), so bringing another in Brady could be a shrewd move.

Keane hailed Brady’s set-piece delivery for Ireland back in [2017](https://www.irishmirror.ie/sport/soccer/soccer-news/roy-keane-backs-robbie-brady-10593432), and the 29-year-old could also provide cover for Postecoglou at [left-back](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/robbie-brady/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/128229).

He has [160](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/robbie-brady/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/128229) games of Premier League experience to his name, along with [57](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/robbie-brady/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/128229) caps for his country, so you’d expect he’ll be able to find a new club relatively soon.

Celtic want another [winger](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9850293/Celtic-considering-former-Crystal-Palace-midfielder-James-McCarthy.html) this summer, and although Brady’s [primary](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/robbie-brady/profil/spieler/128229) position is a left-midfielder and not a winger, he could be a smart signing with his experience, versatility and dead-ball quality.
