# Celtic: Hoops make another Mehdi Ghayedi approach

**Celtic are not giving up on their pursuit of Shabab Al-Ahli forward Mehdi Ghayedi and want a move finalised before the winter break ends, [Varzesh Seh](https://www.varzesh3.com/news/1803826/%D8%B3%D9%84%D8%AA%DB%8C%DA%A9-%D8%AF%D8%B3%D8%AA-%D8%A8%D8%B1%D8%AF%D8%A7%D8%B1-%D9%86%DB%8C%D8%B3%D8%AA-%D9%86%D8%A7%D9%85%D9%87-%D8%B3%D9%88%D9%85-%D8%A8%D8%B1%D8%A7%DB%8C-%D9%82%D8%A7%DB%8C%D8%AF%DB%8C) report.**

### The Lowdown: Attacking additions

The Hoops have already bolstered their attacking ranks with the acquisition of [Daizen Maeda](https://www.celticfc.com/news/2021/december/31/celtic-delighted-to-welcome-three-new-signings/), while young starlet [Johnny Kenny](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59925260) has joined as a more long-term prospect.

Ange Postecoglou also wants to make Jota’s loan move a [permanent](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11787/12508514/celtic-hope-to-seal-permanent-jota-and-cameron-carter-vickers-deals) one, with the Hoops [now](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-celtic-set-sights-on-two-more-forward-signings-as-jota-deal-close/) eyeing another wide forward.

Ghayedi, labelled as an ‘extraordinary killer’ finisher by [@ADSportsTV](https://twitter.com/ADSportsTV/status/1439303010178551809), can play [anywhere](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mehdi-ghayedi/profil/spieler/478192) across the front three and has scored [41](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mehdi-ghayedi/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/478192) goals during his career so far.

### The Latest: Another approach

[Reports](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-transfer-rumours/celtic-mehdi-ghayedi-bid-rejected/) earlier this month suggested that Celtic have had a bid turned down for Ghayedi.

Now, [Varzesh Seh](https://www.varzesh3.com/news/1803826/%D8%B3%D9%84%D8%AA%DB%8C%DA%A9-%D8%AF%D8%B3%D8%AA-%D8%A8%D8%B1%D8%AF%D8%A7%D8%B1-%D9%86%DB%8C%D8%B3%D8%AA-%D9%86%D8%A7%D9%85%D9%87-%D8%B3%D9%88%D9%85-%D8%A8%D8%B1%D8%A7%DB%8C-%D9%82%D8%A7%DB%8C%D8%AF%DB%8C) claim that Postecoglou is desperate for the 23-year-old to join the club during the winter break, with the Hoops making another approach.

The winter break comes to an end for Celtic in just over 72 hours on Monday when they take on [Hibernian](https://www.celticfc.com/fixtures/) at Parkhead, so this one could move pretty quickly if the manager wants it done by then.

### The Verdict: Interesting…

Postecoglou was [planning](https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/celtic/celtic-transfers-targets-emerge-in-iran-and-korea-as-ange-postecoglou-looks-for-reinforcements-3483238) to raid untapped markets this month, and it seems as if the Hoops are looking in the UAE with Ghayedi.

The Iran international only joined Shabab Al-Ahli in the [summer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mehdi-ghayedi/profil/spieler/478192) and is under contract until [2026](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mehdi-ghayedi/profil/spieler/478192), so it could take a tempting offer for the Dubai club to sell.

[Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/mehdi-ghayedi/profil/spieler/478192) have a probability of a move to Celtic Park at 76%, so even though Postecoglou recently [slammed](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/ange-postecoglou-slams-celtic-lies-25937731) transfer lies in the media, a move for Ghayedi could be one to monitor before the end of the month.
