# Celtic: Hoops still keen on Aaron Hickey

**Celtic have been name-checked with an interest in Bologna left-back Aaron Hickey by [Calciomercato.com](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/hickey-e-un-gioiello-l-interesse-del-milan-e-il-retroscena-sul-b-57099).**

### The Lowdown: Hickey in Italy

Hickey, who shares the same [agent](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/plgtm/beraterfirma/berater/5488) as Hoops star David Turnbull, has been in Italy for just over a year now. He left Hearts for Bologna in a deal worth just [£1.53m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-hickey/transfers/spieler/591949) and has gone on to make [32](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-hickey/leistungsdaten/spieler/591949) appearances – [20](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-hickey/leistungsdaten/spieler/591949) of which have come this season.

[Celtic updates!!](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/celtic-updates-20/)

Capable of playing as a [left-back or left-midfielder](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-hickey/leistungsdaten/spieler/591949), the 19-year-old, labelled as a player with [‘quality’](https://www.edinburghlive.co.uk/sport/football/aaron-hickeys-bologna-debut-draws-19015320) by Bologna manager Sinisa Mihajlovic, has scored [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-hickey/leistungsdaten/spieler/591949) Serie A goals in 2021/22 after being [linked](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/aaron-hickeys-enormous-celtic-transfer-24473832) with a move to Celtic over the summer.

The Hoops valued Hickey at [£4m](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/aaron-hickeys-enormous-celtic-transfer-24473832) compared to Bologna’s [£8m](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/aaron-hickeys-enormous-celtic-transfer-24473832) asking price, but it seems as if they’re still keen on his services heading into 2022.

### The Latest: Late-night news

[Calciomercato.com](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/hickey-e-un-gioiello-l-interesse-del-milan-e-il-retroscena-sul-b-57099) shared a story late on Thursday evening regarding Hickey.

They claimed that the defender has ended up in the sights of Burnley, Celtic and Manchester City, with his current deal running until [2024](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aaron-hickey/profil/spieler/591949).

### The Verdict: Left-back wanted

Ange Postecoglou seemingly has his eyes set on bringing in a new left-back in the New Year, presumably to challenge Greg Taylor.

Barnsley’s [Callum Styles](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-news/celtic-hoops-keen-on-callum-styles/) and Hibernian’s [Josh Doig](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-transfer-rumours/celtic-josh-doig-links-resurface/) are just two names that have been mentioned in recent weeks, and it appears as if the Hoops are still keeping tabs on Hickey.

Reo Hatate looks set to [move](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-news/celtic-hoops-reach-reo-hatate-agreement/) to Parkhead in January, however, he is [reportedly](https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/spfl/scottish-premiership/reo-hatate-celtic-transfer-talks-22060949) viewed as a midfield addition, even though he can play at [left-back](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/reo-hatate/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/496656).

On that basis, you’d expect that the Hoops could launch a move for Styles, Doig or Hickey over the coming weeks, and should one arrive, Celtic could then look to move on outcast Boli Bolingoli, who has [hardly](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/boli-bolingoli/leistungsdaten/spieler/168156) featured this season and was [linked](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/boli-bolingoli-line-celtic-transfer-24402853) with an exit over the summer.
