# Celtic: Hoops still keen on Siriki Dembele

**Celtic are still thought to be keen on signing Peterborough United forward Siriki Dembele, [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-major-update-on-celtic-and-rangers-race-to-sign-dembele-in-january-after-offer-submitted/) report.**

### The Lowdown: Dembele links in 2021

Rumours first emerged regarding Celtic’s interest in Dembele, older brother of Hoops winger Karamoko, back in [March](https://www.givemesport.com/1663734-celtic-transfer-exclusive-peterboroughs-siriki-dembele-a-summer-target).

The versatile forward was involved in [24](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/siriki-dembele/leistungsdaten/spieler/488656/plus/0?saison=2020) goals during the 2020/21 campaign and was [reportedly](https://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/sport/football/peterborough-united/why-siriki-dembele-could-be-prepared-to-resume-contract-talks-with-peterborough-united-3307128) favouring a move to Scotland over the summer, however, he remained with The Posh.

Dembele has gone on to score [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/siriki-dembele/leistungsdaten/spieler/488656/plus/0?saison=2021) times in his first taste of Championship football, and his name has once again popped up when it comes to players being linked with a move to Glasgow.

### The Latest: £4m price tag…

[Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-major-update-on-celtic-and-rangers-race-to-sign-dembele-in-january-after-offer-submitted/) shared a story regarding Dembele on Thursday morning.

Within their report, they suggested that Celtic, Rangers and Fulham have targeted the 25-year-old, who now has a £4m January transfer window price tag.

Dembele, who came through [Nike’s Football Academy](https://www.90min.com/posts/things-to-know-about-siriki-dembele), similar to [Tom Rogic](https://www.90min.com/posts/things-to-know-about-siriki-dembele), is out of contract at the end of the season at this moment in time, however, Peterborough don’t want to lose him in the New Year and want to scare any interested sides off with the asking price.

### The Verdict: Avoid?

It seems as if Celtic will be getting a versatile forward through the door in [Daizen Maeda](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/celtic-manager-ange-postecoglou-lines-up-reunion-with-daizen-maeda-hqf7xzr0x), who like [Dembele](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/siriki-dembele/leistungsdaten/spieler/488656), can play [out wide or centrally](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/daizen-maeda/profil/spieler/420931).

The Hoops brought in [multiple](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/transfers/verein/371) attacking options over the summer as well, so as long as Maeda arrives in Scotland with the Hoops [confident](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/celtic-manager-ange-postecoglou-lines-up-reunion-with-daizen-maeda-hqf7xzr0x) of pushing through a winter window transfer, then perhaps Celtic should look at bolstering other areas of the pitch.

Ange Postecoglou has relied heavily on the same three central midfield options, [Callum McGregor](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/callum-mcgregor/leistungsdaten/spieler/120977), [David Turnbull](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-turnbull/leistungsdaten/spieler/345760) and [Rogic](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tom-rogic/leistungsdaten/spieler/213672), while right-back [Josip Juranovic](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/josip-juranovic/leistungsdaten/spieler/362977) has had to fill in on the opposite side due to [Greg Taylor’s absence](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/greg-taylors-celtic-injury-timeframe-25031792), so those two areas may be worth adding to instead of two attacking options.
